A follower from our Facebook group tells the story of the strange death of his mother’s childhood friend, who was very interested in djinns and the supernatural…
My Mum’s Friend Who’s Interested in Djinns
When my mother was in her twenties, she had a friend she liked very much; Vildan. But Vildan didn’t like travelling and having fun like her other friends. She was very withdrawn. Vildan was more interested in djinns, fairies and supernatural events. No matter how much she was warned by her friends about the dangers of being interested in these subjects, she could not give up this curiosity.
According to what my mother later learnt from the stories of her other friends, one day she was more preoccupied with djinns than usual. She often said the names of the three letters [1]The three lettered ones: According to a common belief in Turkey, mentioning the names of djinns or even pronouncing the word djinn causes djinns to come to the place where their names are mentioned. … Continue reading . When night came, she went to bed as usual. When everyone in the house was about to fall asleep, suddenly there were screams coming from the room of my mum’s childhood friend Vildan!
Little Men were Trying to Kidnap Her
Vildan’s parents, who rushed to their daughter’s room with fear, panic and anxiety, could not succeed no matter how hard they tried to open the door of the room. Her father ran downstairs and got the fire extinguisher. He hit the glass of the door with the fire extinguisher. But when he hit the glass, the fire extinguisher flew back like a rubber ball and hit the wall. Vildan’s parents went inside and tried to do whatever they could to save their daughter. But no matter what they did, they could not manage to get in.
In her room, Vildan said, “Leave me alone. I will not go anywhere with you” she was shouting. Her parents, who were curious about what was going on inside, said, “What’s wrong with my daughter? Who is doing evil to you? Who are you talking to?” they asked from the other side of the door. Vildan said; “Help me, little men are entering under my door. They want me to go with them. I don’t want to go, save me!” and these were her last words.
After the screams stopped, they found her body in the backyard. That night, Vildan threw herself out of the window of her room on the top floor of the house… Or this was the most logical explanation that could be found.

For this reason, many people prefer to express what they want to tell about the djinns by saying the number of letters used in the Turkish spelling of the word instead of pronouncing the word djinn. |
